Recently, the two helicopter pilots Jan Krčil from the Czech Republic (left in the picture) and Tomas Kika from Slovakia successfully completed their mountain landing training at Swiss Helicopter. The two pilots already have a wealth of experience and have decided to expand this for challenging landings in the mountains.

In Switzerland, unlike other countries, mountain landing training is required for landings above 1,100 meters above sea level. This training is anchored in national law and enjoys an excellent reputation far beyond the Swiss borders. We are proud that foreign pilots regularly rely on the great know-how of our experienced flight instructors and that we are able to teach them mountain flying with all the associated practices.

Flying in high mountains can be very challenging. To ensure that pilots always make the right decisions, additional training is very important. This is because the performance of the helicopter at high altitudes is significantly lower than at lower altitudes. Rapidly changing weather conditions and blowing snow can make flights in the mountains even more difficult. With highly professional mountain landing training, Swiss Helicopter makes a valuable contribution to pilot training and thus flight safety beyond national borders.

Looking back, Tomas Kika mentions: “Coming to Switzerland and having the opportunity to develop pilot skills in the mountains was fantastic and essential experience. Not only because of the breathtaking Swiss Alps but foremost thanks to the team of professionals from Swiss Helicopter who made us feel at home and shared valuable experience through very solid training programme.”

We congratulate Jan and Tomas on their successful completion and wish them both continued success in the cockpit and happy landings with their newly acquired knowledge.
