Mountain landing training is compulsory in Switzerland for landings at altitudes of more than 1100 metres above sea level. This training is regulated by national legislation and has an excellent reputation far beyond the country’s borders.
Training covers high-altitude landings on official sites at up to 4200 metres above sea level. It includes at least 200 landings in the mountains, 50 of which must be at up to 2000 metres above sea level, with 150 on official landing sites. Flights must take place in at least 20 different locations, of which ten must be at more than 2700 metres above sea level. You will need total experience of at least 100 flying hours to complete this course.
Completion of training, which concludes with an examination flight, entitles you to perform both private and commercial landings in mountain areas. This training may be combined with type-rating retraining if required.
The respective type-rating and mountain-landing examinations must in any case be passed separately.
